Speakers
Joan Petric, USDOL, Wage and Hour Division - is a Wage Hour Technician for the Wage and Hour Division's Cincinnati Area Office. She has over 30 years of experience with the Department of Labor and is a subject matter expert on the Fair Labor Standards Act and the Family Medical Leave Act. Joan received the Secretary’s Exceptional Achievement Award for her outreach work. She enjoys presenting and training on Wage Hour laws. Joan is a graduate of the University of Dayton. Prior to working for Wage Hour she worked with US DOL's Office of Civil Rights in Washington, DC.
Tatiana Anthony, USDOL, Wage and Hour Division - is an investigator for the Wage Hour Division in the Cincinnati Area Office. She has spent the last 17 years with the Wage Hour Division performing investigations under various laws including the Fair Labor Standards Act, Family Medical Leave Act, Davis Bacon Act, Service Contract Act, and the Migrant and Seasonal Worker Protection Act in a wide variety of industries. She has received the Secretary’s Exceptional Achievement Award for investigative work. Tatiana enjoys regularly giving presentations at outreach events on Wage Hour laws. Tatiana received her graduate degree in Public Administration from the University of Dayton. Prior to working for Wage Hour she studied abroad in Latin America researching human rights issues and taught English in China.
Alison Huenefeld- Cors & Bassett LLC - Alison was born and raised in the Northern Kentucky area where she spent the first three years of her legal career clerking for state and federal court judges. Since joining Cors & Bassett, Alison has become a member of the litigation department of the firm and has successfully represented clients in a wide range of civil litigation matters, including employment matters, contract disputes, cargo claims, CSPA violations, and franchising disputes. While Alison enjoys assisting clients navigate complex disputes of all kinds, in recent years she has focused her practice on assisting clients with employment matters including alleged Title VII and OSHA violations, FMLA and other leave issues, discharge and discipline questions, trade secret and non-competition matters, and wage and hour issues.
When Alison is not actively litigating matters, she is working to counsel clients on ways to prevent ending up in court by drafting employee handbooks and providing day to day guidance on the ever-changing employment laws. Alison also serves a large base of franchisors by drafting and revising franchise disclosure documents and providing advice on compliance with the state and federal laws governing franchising. Alison is licensed to practice law in both Ohio and Kentucky.
Stephen Clegg - Ohio Department of Labor Steve graduated from the Ohio State University with a BA in Political Science in 2003. Upon graduation he worked as a legislative aide in the Ohio House of Representatives for four years before moving on to continue his career in public service at Columbus State Community College where he served as the administrator for off-campus education programs. Since 2011, he has been with the Ohio Department of Commerce as the Bureau Chief of the Wage and Hour Administration section, which oversees the enforcement of Ohio’s minor labor, prevailing wage, minimum wage and overtime laws. Steve currently serves as the President of the Interstate Labor Standards Association, which represents labor enforcement officials from all 50 states, Canada and Taiwan. He is a proud resident of Licking County, where he is active in local politics and youth athletics.
Amy Bornman-Weber - Ohio Job and Family Services. currently serves as the Policy Administrator for the Office of Unemployment Insurance Operations (OUIO). In this role, Amy works in collaboration with OUIO leaders, managers, and staff to develop consistent policy, procedure, and training documentation for the office. Her focus is ensuring compliance with state and federal UI program requirements. Amy has an Associate of Applied Science degree in Legal Assisting from Columbus State Community College. She began her career with ODJFS in 2006 as an Examiner in the Contribution section. She also worked as a Specialist in Compliance and most recently as a Supervisor in UI Technical Services. Prior to working for OUIO, Amy worked for third party administrators handling claims, appeals, hearings, and charges for employer clients. She has over 22 years of Unemployment experience.
Sanjana 'Sanj' Narvekar - Ohio Job and Family Services. Sanj is an external auditor in the Compliance Section of the Ohio Office of Unemployment Compensation. She has over 15 years of experience as an auditor. Her primary role as an auditor is to verify if employers have correctly reported their employees & their earnings in compliance with the provisions of the Ohio Revised Code. These audits provide a good platform to educate employers and/or their representatives about unemployment compensation law and its provisions.
Samuel Keck - Office of Child Support Services. Sam is on the OCSS employer services team as the business lead on e-IWO. Prior to the OCSS, Sam worked for six years on the employer services team at Indiana's Child Support Bureau, where he spent two years as the team lead. Sam also served as a subject matter expert on the Indiana INvest project to replace the state child support system.
